My Experience at KCD México 2025: A Fantastic Community Event

Jonathan at KCD México 2025

This past March, I had the wonderful opportunity to present at KCD México 2025 in beautiful Guadalajara, Jalisco. On Saturday, March 29th, I took the stage to share my work on Metatron, the open-source library I’ve been developing for building Kubernetes operators in Ruby.

I realized that I hadn’t shared the video of my presentation or anything about my experience speaking at this excellent conference, so that’s long overdue.

An Incredible Community

What struck me most about KCD México was the genuine warmth and enthusiasm of both the community and the organizing staff. The Kubernetes Community Days events have a special energy to them; they attract people who are truly passionate about cloud native technologies and eager to learn from each other. The audience was engaged, asked thoughtful questions, and created exactly the kind of environment where technical discussions thrive. I loved the conversations I had beforehand with other presenters as well. There were so many great talks!

The organizers did an outstanding job bringing together this community. It was clear that they genuinely cared about creating an inclusive, welcoming space for speakers and attendees alike. They put tremendous effort into making sure both speakers and attendees had a great experience and the social time afterward was amazing.

Sharing Metatron with the World

Presenting Metatron to this audience was particularly rewarding. Getting to showcase a tool I’ve poured so much time and passion into, and seeing the genuine interest from the Kubernetes community, made the entire trip worthwhile. If you’re curious about the library itself, I’ve written a three-part series diving deeper into how it works and why I built it.

Looking Forward

The experience at KCD México 2025 was fantastic, and I would absolutely love the opportunity to present there again in the future. Conferences like this remind me why I love being part of the open source community – the people, the shared enthusiasm for solving problems with technology, and the collaborative spirit that drives us all forward.

If you’re considering submitting a talk to a future KCD event, I highly recommend it. I can’t think of a single thing that they could have improved (alright, maybe the meal selection could have been better for people like me that don’t eat meat 😛). The community is welcoming, the conversations are enriching, and Guadalajara is a beautiful city to visit.

¡Hasta la próxima, KCD México!
