My Experience at Posadev 2024

Late last year I had the great pleasure of speaking with a friend and coworker at Posadev 2024 in beautiful Guadalajara, México. We presented a basic overview of the platform we develop together at our day job, emphasizing how it uses Ruby on Rails to manage MySQL clusters running on Kubernetes.

I wanted to share both the video and my experience speaking at the conference.

I thoroughly enjoyed presenting a tool that I put so much time and energy into. José and I had so much passion for our topic and I think that shined through. It was great to have so much time to speak and to have the audience involved. We received several great questions that demonstrated both the caliber of people present at the conference and how relevant the topic was to them. Posadev has both top-notch presenters and attendees. I couldn’t recommend it more!

Beyond the talk itself, I found the staff very friendly and helpful. While somewhat disorganized on certain things (for instance, we couldn’t get a clear description of the equipment present in the room), the staff were very receptive to suggestions and improvement ideas. It was obvious that the organizers cared deeply about inclusivity and everyone’s sense of safety as well. It also didn’t feel like a big sales pitch, which was wonderful. Overall, the staff were incredible.

I was also impressed by the venue and the quality of the swag they offered to presenters. I love the shirt and hoodie and wear them often with pride.

The after-hours speakers’ meetup was excellent as well. The conversations were great, the drinks were free, and I got the sense that they appreciated us being there.

I highly recommend Posadev, especially as a presenter. Do yourself a favor and submit a talk or just go enjoy the weather + some great tech discussions in GDL.
